I have a question. May I email you?
Of course. Email me here - but first, read below to see if I've already answered your question!
What’s an editing consultation?
I review written work for grammatical and structural errors. I may
also make suggestions for improvement.
What’s a tutoring consultation?
During tutoring sessions, the client is free to state concerns ranging from grammar and structure to creative voice. College papers, professional letters, or work reports are often the focus of client sessions.
I’ve written a book. Do you do free estimates?
Yes. Send me the first chapter or first few pages of your manuscript and a word count
(I cannot work with handwritten manuscripts). You'll receive an estimate in 24-48 hours. Please bear in mind that this is only an estimate. If it takes more time than originally estimated, I will let you know.
***Marissa receives compensation on an hourly and not a project-long basis, but she reserves the right to make that decision on a case by case basis .***
What is MLA or APA style? What is my professor talking about? Help!
Don’t worry! Editing styles can be very confusing at first. We’ll discuss the MLA/APA style and explain it using handouts, websites, and other materials. My goal is to make sure you understand what you need to know before our session is over.
Can you edit my APA or MLA paper?
During an editing consultation, we may discuss and/or make guided changes to your paper, but my main goal is to make sure that you understand why we are making these changes, not to edit it for you.
What’s the difference between tutoring and manuscript editing?
During a one-on-one tutoring session, I will help you understand the material. For an editing consultation, you send me a manuscript and I will edit (read: CHANGE) it.
For manuscript editing – I do 50/50 splits for anything over 1 hour. That means if your book estimate is 5 hours ($300), I expect half up front and half upon job completion.
I’d rather pay for one hour at a time as we go. Can I do that?
Yes. Select the 60 minute option and you’ve bought one hour of editing time.
- Communicating clearly about your work.
- Making sure you understand the changes.
- Answering all of your questions to the best of her knowledge.
